Large Milkweed Bug (Oncopeltus fasciatus), Big Hollow Recreation Area
These large milkweed bugs were found at Big Hollow Recreation Area in Des Moines County, Iowa. The insect appears to avoid bright light and was found on the underside of milkweed leaves and pods.
