This close-up of a wild Bloodroot flower (Sanguinaria canadensis) surrounded by leaves of an adjacent Dutchman's Breeches plant (Dicentra cucullaria) was taken on an early spring afternoon in bright sun.

Details:  Canon EOS 10D digital camera with a Promaster 100 mm macro lens. Settings were 1/60 second, f16.

The image had several problems. A distracting blade of dried grass was in the upper right background. This piece of grass was quite literally painted over and blurred using copy , paste, and Gaussian blur functions. Then the picture was cropped to emphasize the flower as the subject. Finally, much of the detail of the flower was lost due to its color and the bright sunshine. The Photoshop "Poster Edges" filter was used to outline and highlight the finer details.
