This photograph was taken in late afternoon on a clear day using a polarizing filter to increase color saturation of the sky.

Details:  Canon EOS 10D digital camera with a Canon 17-40 mm zoom lens. Settings were 1/90 second, f16, focal length 32 mm, ISO 100
 
The color was then deleted from the photograph producing a black and white image.
 
The Photoshop Elements "Glowing Edges" filter was used to create the image shown above. For black and white images, this filter produces some interesting effects in contrast and image inversion (similar to a film negative).
